NO: Can you tell our readers about a little yourself?
ANDREA: I graduated from Morgan State University with a degree in Physical Education in 2006 with a passion for helping others. I have been a personal trainer and lifestyle coach since 2008, and have been a substitute for Baltimore City and County public schools since 2005. I am working towards a teaching certification for Baltimore City Public Schools. I am also an amateur boxer and a volunteer basketball coach for Baltimore recreation league.
NO: Can give me 6 words the best describe yourself?
ANDREA: Passionate, Athletic, Determined, Selfless, Fun and Positive
NO: We’re celebrating music and entertainment during the month of August. How important do you feel music is to the black culture?
ANDREA: Music is a vital outlet for our community. It brings us together, and allows us to express ourselves in our own unique way.
NO: What type of music do you listen to during your workout routine?
ANDREA: I listen to hip hop& R&B. Sometimes I need that extra pump from hip hop; other times, I dance around in between sets to 80s and 90s R&B.
NO: What advice would you give someone struggling with weight and self-esteem issues?
ANDREA: Just get started! You have to get started in order to change. Focus on yourself and don’t compare yourself to anyone else! It’s your body, and your goals should be specific to you!
NO: How can more women celebrate their kurves this Fall?
ANDREA: Curves are in, so flaunt your stuff! You will be loved for who you are and be confident even if you feel your curves are not where you want them to be. Love the skin you’re in!
NO: What can we do more as an industry to advocate more woman embracing their bodies and loving them without the pressure of the social media?
ANDREA: We can show more women working out, and educating them on healthy eating. Creating the lifestyle change is key!
NO: What do you want your legacy to be?
ANDREA: I want to be know as the best trainer in Baltimore, because of my skill set, compassion for my clients and being the example by being a fit and health trainer..
